Something I Learned

God is in control of everything.

Never say, "There is nothing we can do."

You can do anything you want

Bible Study

Artist: Vincent van Gogh

The Value of Bible Study

We need to know the Bible in order to know right from wrong and to be able to overcome Satan. The Word is the Sword of the Spirit. We need to learn to handle the Word so we will effectively be able to help a lost world learn about the Almighty God. To ignore reading the Bible is a serious error. It is a serious symptom of approaching spiritual death! If you do not take time to read your Bible your religion is more an ornament. If you do not read your Bible, evidently to follow God's will is not very important. Without a knowledge of the Bible we could be likened to a flashlight in the dark without batteries or at the very most, weak batteries.

My Personal Testimony

I love to read my Bible. I draw my strength from my Bible when I am sad or disappointed with things out of my control. Many times God has given me a verse that was just for me at just the right time. It took care of my fears immediately.

Light for Today: Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. Exodus 4:12 ( Now go ahead and do as I tell you, for I shall tell you what to say.)

O ye of little faith

Jesus Calms The Storm

Terrible storms come into our lives from time to time. Our little boat rocks hard in the tempest. We must sit close to Jesus and take hold of a part of His robe. Only then will we have a great calm in our heart. We need not be fearful of the storm because even the wind and waves obey Jesus. We must fight, fight, and fight until God blesses and the storm subsides. We have a Jesus that will take us through a storm and we will shine like gold.

Light for Today: And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but He was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And He saith unto them, "Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?" Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. Matthew 8: 25, 26

Prayer

Do you know how to pray?

Are your prayers being answered?

Pray like you know God will answer you. God is faithful. He is great and He is loving. He can handle all your problems. Confess any sin in your life that you are aware of. Come before God with a pure heart when you pray. Then be very specific in what you ask for. If you pray so general it will be hard to know when your prayer is answered. God wants us to pray and ask for specific answers.

Light for Today: Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and then thank Him for all He has done. Philippians 4:6

The Good Shepherd

Jesus ~ My Good Shepherd

Each one of us is special. Each one of is different. Each one of us has a name. Jesus calls us by our name. Jesus knows ME. He will not forget me. He knows my heartaches. He knows when I cry and He cries with me. He also knows what gives me joy and makes me smile and He rejoices with me. He understands me. He knows me through and through. He loves me like no other. Why would I not trust Him when He knows me better than anyone else and loves me more than anyone else does? Why would I not listen to His voice?

Jesus is my Shepherd

I WILL listen to HIs voice.

Quiet Time

QUIET TIME

Goal: to feed on the Bible and learn to know Jesus better.

A simple plan is all you need. Set aside a specific time each day. Don't give Jesus your leftover time ~ meet Him when you are the freshest. You might like to have two quiet times, one in the morning and another in the evening before you retire for bed. Plan your quiet time to be at the same place each day. Some place where you are not disturbed easily and you can pray aloud. Relax ~ do not be in a hurry. Read the scripture you have chosen slowly and several times. Then wait on God to speak to you. He will if you are in tune with HIm. This is a very special time with your very best Friend. It's a time to look forward to with joy and anticipation.

Light for today: Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35 NIV

Hold My Hand

Dear Jesus

Please hold my hand today.

I'm afraid I might stumble.

I don't want to fall.

But if I do, please put me back on my feet.

Hold my hand all day.

Hold my hand tight.

Please Jesus...

You're my strength.

Without You I am nothing.

Dear Jesus, my loving Savior,

hold my hand today.

Thank you

and I love you.

Light for Today: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:20

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home! Oh, it is so good to be back home after traveling to Arkansas which is a little over 700 miles from here. We attended our niece's wedding and several pre-wedding activities. We had some Cuddly Buddlies (Toby & Anne) in the back seat which made our trip extra enjoyable. We very much enjoyed seeing family that we hadn't seen for awhile. We're very glad we went but it is soooo good to back home too. Back to normal living which includes blogging, baking for F. M. keeping house and making the hubby happy!

HOME SWEET HOME

Our home down here on earth will not come close to comparing with our heavenly home. We love our homes and families here on earth and that is good but we should love to think of our heavenly home too.

Home, sweet home!

Happy home sweet home!

Oh! say will you meet me there,

In that home above, where all is love,

And joy beyond compare?

Roses!

Is Your Christian LIfe LIke A Rose?

Many people love roses. All sorts of roses. Not only real roses but we like roses painted on furniture, printed on the fabric of the clothes we wear, roses on dishes and even fake roses stuck here and there in a vase in our homes. Roses are beautiful! Lovers like to give roses to each other, not only because they are pretty but also they smell lovely. How is your Christian life? Does it look like a rose? It can look pretty on the outside but more important does it smell nice? Do you have attitudes that stink? Do you have a bad habit that leaves off a smelly aroma? You say, "Oh it isn't that bad. It's a small thing and that's just the way I am." So we keep right on saying a few harsh words which leaves an unpleasant aroma behind us. Let's take a good look at our rose to see how it smells. We want to be that sweet smelling rose for Jesus.

Light for Today: Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 5:2 NLT

I'm Free To Choose

Today I will be exposed to new demands. I must make a choice. I'm free to choose.

I choose love.

I choose joy.

I choose peace.

I choose patience.

I choose kindness.

I choose faithfulness.

I choose gentleness.

I choose self con-control.

To these I commit my day. If I am successful I will give thanks. If I fail, I will seek forgiveness and God's grace. Then I will rest.

Light for Today: ...Now choose life so that you and your children may live. Deuteronomy 30:19b

Impossibilities

GOD DEALS WITH IMPOSSIBILITIES

When the impossible is brought to God in full faith God can deal triumphantly with the tragic facts. We must put the whole situation and ourselves unreservedly and believing into HIS HANDS. He is the God of all grace.

After God's Own Heart

KING DAVID

A Man After God's Own Heart

David was a little shepherd boy who grew up in a dysfunctional family. His brothers did not like him much and his father didn't think all that much of him either. At least he wasn't going to mention him to Samuel when the prophet was sent to his house to anoint the next King of Israel.

King David was an adulterer, a murderer, a lousy husband and an over indulgent, yet unconcerned father. But he was also a shepherd, a war hero, an inventor, a worshipper, a giver, a building designer, a true friend, a song writer and a musician.

Can I Be A Woman After God's Own Heart?

David was a man after God's own heart because when he failed he repented and turned back to God. Read Psalm 51. I love the fact that this man who failed grievously could still be called a man after God's own heart. That is good news for ME! I want to honor and please the Lord and yet sometimes I fail in my Christian walk of life. All I need to do is "seek His face."

Troubled?

(forget-me-nots)

Are you troubled over an injustice, an offense maybe, or some other mistreatment? Share your problem with God alone. God will help you dig a grave, throwing the dirt out until the hole is very very deep. Throw in all that has wounded you into that grave and quickly shovel the dirt over it. But wait ~ dear friend, you are not through. Next carefully cover the hole with green grass and plant beautiful forget-me-nots on top. Then run away. The wound will be healed without a scar!
