Enduring Love

We know all about love being kind, not jealous, does not brag and the rest of 1 Corinthians 13. We've read that chapter many times and heard many sermons preached on it. But what about "endures all things?" That means the good and the bad. Our mate might suffer an incurable illness but we endure with him. Our children might have a premature baby with a long hospital stay but we endure with them together. Love is wonderful but love also involves enduring hardships with tolerance. There is no hardship that love cannot endure.

Praying Desperately

I read an article last week about an alcoholic who was in a rehabilitation center. He wanted so badly to conquer his addiction. He prayed DESPERATELY, because there was NO ONE else that could help him. He fell on the floor and pounded his fist on the floor crying DESPERATELY for help. I'm afraid too many times we pray half-hearted. We need to pray with faith DESPERATELY. God will hear us!

Can You Hear God?

Can you hear God? If you want to hear Him you have to be near Him. You can't be filling your mind with a thousand distractions. You must BE STILL. Sometimes you need be alone with your Bible and ask God to speak to you. Remember also that you can talk to Him about anything that's on your heart!

Sisters (Friends)

I never get tired of posting about friends. My friends are very dear to me. I had no sisters and no daughters so my friends have always been special I am thankful that God has blessed me with two wonderful daughter-in-laws. My dearest friends are sisters-in-heart. Today I will share a little something that is written by Elizabeth Shaw about sisters but I also think it can be applied to dearest friends.

For when three sisters love each other with such sincere affection, the one does not experience sorrow, pain, or affliction of any kind, but the others' heart wishes to relieve, and vibrates in tenderness. Like a well-organized musical instrument.

Light for Today: There are "friends" who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

Are You Crying

Do you look around you and feel like everyone has a perfect life but you? They all have "good" children, plenty of money, good jobs and good health. We only see the good side. Believe me, there is no perfect life out there. Everyone has their own private pain. When our lives are in a crisis and we cry, it makes a difference if we can focus on the little things that are good. The distance between sadness and gladness isn't very far apart.

Priceless Treasures

These are all things we can do for our fellowman that cost us nothing, but become priceless treasures to the one that receives them. May we give freely!

Beauty

We ladies all wish to be beautiful. I read one time that very few are completely satisfied the way they look. We feel the need to lose a few pounds, get a new dress, or a hundred other things. God would be pleased if we would rather concentrate on keeping our hearts pure and clean. We should practice being kind and good, then we will seem truly beautiful to all those around us.


Light for Today: Christian should be noticed for being kind and good, not for the way they fix their hair or because of their jewels or fancy clothes. 1 Timothy 2:10 NLB

My Purpose

The purpose of my life belongs to God, not me. I want God to use me from His perspective and I will trust Him in everything He asks of me. I must stop telling God what I want so He can freely work His will in me without any hindrance. He asks me to have absolute faith in Him and His goodness.

Jesus ~ My Very Best Friend

Jesus is my very very best friend. Every day I take His hand and walk beside Him. When the day brings a sorrow or disappointment, I turn to Jesus, take His arms, look into His face and ask Him to help me. Then He wraps His arms around me and calls me His precious child. Often He carries me. Yes, Jesus is my very very best friend.

Light for Today: It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. Psalms 18:32-33 NIV

Simply Believe

It's Fall ~ the time of the year that the cold winds come. The birds start to fly south to warmer climates. They have no map to guide them but they fly confidently. We, too have times that we must fly south. Away from our winds of despair and hopelessness. God promises He will provide a refuge for our troubled hearts. He asks us to believe in Him ~ that He will provide those gentle breezes that our heart longs for. He asks us to believe that His never failing love will go with us on our journey. He tells us to lean on Him and surrender ourselves to hope.
